GuardianBlock system requirements

GuardianBlock runs on personal, unmanaged Windows 11 Home or Pro PCs (x64) and works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. One subscription covers up to three of your own Windows 11 devices.

Supported

These requirements cover the PC, subscription, and two GuardianBlock accounts used during setup.

Windows 11 Home or Pro, 64-bit (x64)
Device
A personal PC you own and administer yourself (not managed by an employer, school, domain, or MDM)
Browsers
Chrome, Edge, and Firefox
Devices per subscription
Up to three; retiring a device frees its slot
Accounts
One protected adult and one accountability partner, each with their own GuardianBlock account
Partner sign-in
Multi-factor authentication (passkey or authenticator app)
Internet
Needed for setup, approvals, and protection updates. GuardianBlock is designed to keep using its last verified protection settings if the PC temporarily loses its connection

Not supported

Setup stops safely on these instead of installing.

  • Operating systemWindows 10 and earlier
  • ArchitectureWindows on ARM (ARM64)
  • PlatformmacOS, iOS, Android, and Linux
  • Device useShared or family computers where the protected adult is not the sole day-to-day user
  • ManagementEmployer-, school-, domain-, or MDM-managed devices

A personal laptop you also use for work

A personally owned, unmanaged PC that you also use for work qualifies when setup finds no device management or policy conflicts. If your employer manages the device, it is out of scope.

GuardianBlock does not alter DNS, hosts, VPN, firewall, proxy, routes, adapters, SMB mappings, mapped drives, WSL mounts, or work-network configuration.

Browsers

GuardianBlock works in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Private browsing behaves differently in each one.

  • Chrome

Guest mode is turned off. Incognito is turned off when the protected adult uses a standard Windows account.

  • Edge

InPrivate is turned off when the protected adult uses a standard Windows account.

  • Firefox

Normal and private windows are both covered.

Brave is not supported yet. Other browsers, including portable builds, are not supported; GuardianBlock shows when one is in use.
